Nayotake Shimizu (清水 名夜竹しみず なよたけ , Shimizu Nayotake ) is a supporting character in the series. She is the mother of Kaguya Shinomiya.

Nayotake's name comes from Nayotake no Kaguya-hime (名夜竹の輝夜姫), the full title of the princess from The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. It translates to "supple bamboo", a reference to how the literary Kaguya was found in a bamboo stalk.

Nayotake looks similar to Kaguya Shinomiya including the long black hair.

Nothing much is known of Nayotake's personality.

Nayotake gave birth to one daughter before dying a few weeks later of heart problems. As a result, she was not present during Kaguya's childhood. In Chapter 242, it was later revealed that she worked in Gion's red light district as a prostitute. She died 30th of January, 29 days after giving birth to Kaguya.[1]
