Mikado Shijo (
Origin[]
Mikado is based off of the emperor in The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, who was the primary love interest of Nayotake no Kaguya-hime (Kaguya's counterpart).
Appearance[]
He has a very short hair and sharp eyes with the same tone as Maki. He is also taller than Maki. Like Maki, he also has significant fangs.
Personality[]
Mikado is established as being very intelligent, as he is the only person in all of Japan to have scored higher than Miyuki on the last mock exams. He seems very eager to be the person that is correct in his knowledge and gets sad when his knowledge is wrong. He is also a genius at soccer, leading his no-name school to victory at the national soccer championships.
Overall, because of raising from Shijo Group, he is a good person. He is quite humble and wants to make friends. He admires Miyuki Shirogane because of his efforts to keep the first rank in the national exam, so the two quickly become friends later. He demonstrated that he cares for his sister by indulging in her whims: such as her journey of enlightenment to India. He said that he couldn't let her go to a strange country by herself. He is considerate towards those he cares about such as his sister and Kaguya. He is also respectful and while capable of holding onto a goal for years he can also back down gracefully.
History[]
Mikado's first appearance is by name. He is the student that ranked first in national mock exam which makes Miyuki ranks second. His actual first appearance shows him kicked by Maki because he plays football inside the house. He follows Maki to India to accompany her in her search of enlightenment.
In his third year, he is transferred to class A, becoming a classmate of Kaguya, Miyuki, Ai, Kashiwagi, and Chika.
Etymology[]
- The name Mikado means "emperor" (帝).
- Mikado's surname Shijo means "four" (四) (shi) and "article" (条) (jo).
Trivia[]
- Like Maki Shijo, his full name was already revealed before his official introduction.
- Mikado and Kaguya Shinomiya were born on the same day.
- Mikado is considered to be the heir of the Shijo Group.
- As a sign of "respect", people have gave him the nickname "Boyfucker Mikado".
