Hayato ran against Miyuki Shirogane during his reelection, but he ended up dropping out after being threatened by Kaguya Shinomiya.

Kaguya Shinomiya[]
Kaguya Shinomiya is a fellow student at the academy. During the student council election, she forced him to drop out of the race and the experience left him with a fear of tea and Siraitia grosvenorii.
Karen Kino and Erika Kose[]
Karen Kino and Erika Kose are both classmates of Hayato. He attempted to get them on his side during the election, but failed. They later recruit him to hold a banner during the debate.
The Impossible Girls[]
The Impossible Girls earned their title due to all four of them having turned down Hayato when he asked them out.

Etymology[]
- The name Hayato means "brave, courage" (勇) (haya) and "person" (人) (to).
- Hayato's surname Hongo means "base, root, origin" (本) (hon) and "township, home town, village, native place, district" (郷) (go).
- Interestingly enough, he shares his surname with the first Kamen Rider, Takeshi Hongo. Furthermore, his given name is the same as that of Hayato Ichimonji, the second Kamen Rider. Whether or not this is pure coincidence is unknown.
